Art at Walden


When I was walking along the beach at Walden last Saturday, after an abrupt shift from sunshine and warmth and the seeming arrival of Spring on Friday, back to the cold of Winter and the promise of more snow the following day, I came across these treasures.

I don’t know of any other place where so often people come and linger long enough to use nature and her resources to create such works of beauty, giving them freely to others to enjoy and leaving no mark of their own except their artistry.

I returned to Walden on Wednesday after the snow had fallen, and much of it melted away, to find that the treasures which it had hidden beneath it lay untouched by nature and man alike.



And as I wandered around the pond, I found other evidence of the clash of the seasons…
